Smith Miller & Buff, CPA, PA Announces Merger with Hickory-based CPA Firm Davidson, Holland, Whitesell & Co, PLLC

MORGANTON, NC – December 1, 2022 – Smith Miller & Buff CPA, PA, (“SMB”) is pleased to announce its merger with the Hickory-based accounting and consulting firm of Davidson, Holland, Whitesell & Co., PLLC, (“DHW”). The leaders of both firms have been colleagues for many years and are confident that together they will provide deeper service and industry experience for their clients. The firms will officially merge January 1, 2023 and operate under the DHW brand.

SMB was founded in 1974 and today leads a team of 15 providing audit, tax, and consulting services to individuals and businesses. DHW, founded in 1990, has a team of 25 with experience in the healthcare, manufacturing, construction, retail, and restaurant industries.

SMB will operate as Davidson, Holland, Whitesell & Co., PLLC – Morganton. Miller will become a partner with DHW and senior manager, Sheri Watts, CPA will become principal. The Morganton office will remain in the same location and clients can expect the same levels of personalized service and support. “Except for a change of name and an enhanced menu of services, it will be ‘business as usual’ for our clients,” Miller said. “Our team remains intact; our location remains in place, and we are very excited to build on our combined success in the region”.
